"Sandra, you didn't." Tracy stared at her friend over their after work drinks at a local bar.
"I did. I got a big bonus from work, and I figured what the hell? Dating isn't working out for me." Sandra shrugged, and took a sip of her drink.
"So, did you order stock or custom?" Tracy toyed with one of the coasters advertising a regional micro-brew.
"Custom. I mean, I might need a date to a work function and I didn't want anyone recognizing him." Sandra blushed. "There are some other tells, but unless you know what you're looking for, he should pass just fine."
"You're planning to take him to work functions? What's he going to talk about?" Tracy gulped the rest of her drink.
"You can have them programmed with a number of personalities, and they learn from what you expose them to." Sandra took a deep breath. "That's why he's not here yet. That takes longer."
"I cannot believe... will he know he's not, you know, real?" Tracy lowered her voice.
"Yes. I didn't want to lie to him. He'll know." Sandra smiled at her friend. "Another round?"
